How we started. Our business story
In the Trendy Flendy story, there are two key concepts: one is about our legacy for the future and pre-loved household ware, and the other is about the smell sense, something that Covid has seriously affected.
When I lost my sense of smell after taking Covid, I became utterly lost and bewildered, which is when the history of Trendy Flendy began. That may not be a huge deal for many people, but it might cause major chaos for someone with two sons.
The Pandemic struck our family hard (but that’s another tale about my ”Sassy Cottage”) and had long-term consequences for us. My sense of smell was gone for months, and it hasn’t totally returned until today. Strong fragrances quickly make me queasy, other aromas are utterly foreign to what I can recall (like some of the perfumes I adore), and the majority of things smell like… coriander.
I began buying candles to exercise and retrain my sense of smell.
Tons and lots, however after lighting them, none were to my liking. Then I saw on the internet that the NHS advised using essential oils to restore the smell and checked on the recommended sites that I was reading about. At that moment, I decided to consider creating my own candles and melts. I began to educate myself and research the various smell extraction techniques because I have always preferred natural scents. Since I have a herb garden for my kitchen, I was able to compare the majority of the fragrances to their pure, raw aroma in order to identify and experience the distinctions.
Before Covid I could distinguish the finer smell notes. I could recognise any subtle scent notes. But now… I hardly have the ability to notice subtle smells right now. And, because I need my senses back, I began making candles.
My partner once told me that there are many individuals who have the same condition as me and that I should try to sell some of the candles I created for myself. So there you have it! My candles are entirely based on my personal experience. I am not an expert in candle manufacturing. But I am a person with a problem who is attempting to solve it.
Please browse the scent section to discover what scents I’m using to manufacture the candles.
